Three Transit Zones Might Get Cluster Soon

Citizens of Budapest need to be saved from “archaic conditions”

It's possible to have “only one transit zone” in the city to make the situation “more manageable”, said Istvan Tarlos, Mayor of Budapest in a radio interview.

Mr Tarlos announced that definite decision would be made on Thursday, but it's already very likely that transit zones would be relocated to the outskirts. It is also possible that the three current transit zones will be clustered into only one. “We don't shut down transit zones, they are very much needed because of humanitarian reasons and to keep public health”, said Mayor Tarlos, adding that the municipality would like to save continually citizens of Budapest from “archaic conditions”.

Migrants usually make camps in Budapest's parks around the transit zones, many of them refuse to use bathroom facilities as it takes more time than a walk to the nearest bush. That's why the city's municipality would like to gather all migrants in a place where everyday citizens don't have to be involved with such conditions.

Mayor Tarlos also added that it's not logic any more to keep transit zones next to Budapest's train stations as Austria lets fewer and fewer migrants in the country, almost nobody these days.
